Hadith on Beards: Encouragement to groom one’s beard and hair before entering the mosque

Ata ibn Yasar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was in the mosque when a man came in with a disheveled beard and hair. The Messenger of Allah gestured to him that he should return home to groom his hair and beard. The man did so and he returned to the mosque. The Messenger of Allah said, “Is this not better than that he should come with his head disheveled, as if he were a devil?

عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ ثَائِرَ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ أَنْ اخْرُجْ كَأَنَّهُ يَعْنِي إِصْلَاحَ شَعَرِ رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ فَفَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَيْسَ هَذَا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ ثَائِرَ الرَّأْسِ كَأَنَّهُ شَيْطَانٌ
